This week we had the opportunity to welcome a delegation from the Cheongju City Council (South Korea) to our facilities. Their stay in the region is part of an official trip to discover cutting-edge initiatives in sustainability, and they wanted to see first-hand the model we promote at Grup Carles for the treatment of livestock manure.

On September 25, 2015, the United Nations General Assembly approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with objectives including eradicating poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and halting climate change, among others. This agenda will guide global development action until 2030 and lays out a roadmap for achieving a common goal: worldwide sustainable development.

Grup Carles Engineering and Sustainability, together with the Osona Business Council, organized a luncheon titled "Sustainable Finance". The event featured Raul Antúnez Retamal, Head of Sustainability and Climate Change Consultancy, and Xavier Carles, General Director of Grup Carles.

Grup Carles, as a company committed to sustainability, is registered in the Carbon Footprint, Compensation, and CO2 Absorption Projects Registry of the Ministeri per a la Transició Ecològica i el Repte Demogràfic. We are proud to announce that in January, we obtained the Carbon Footprint Calculation Seal. This is a first step towards continuing our sustainability strategy through the implementation of actions to mitigate climate change.

For many small and medium-sized enterprises, the concept of Net Zero is still associated with large corporations, distant goals and difficult investments. However, in the current context marked by European regulation, sustainable financing criteria and growing demands from customers and supply chains, decarbonisation is already part of the strategic framework of any company, regardless of its size.

When we talk about carbon footprinting, the concepts of calculation, validation and verification are concepts related to the different steps to be followed in the process of assessing and ensuring the accuracy of carbon footprint information. So what is the difference between these concepts?

The European Parliament and the Council have reached an agreement on the Directive on corporate sustainability due diligence, which represents a significant step forward for the protection of the environment and human rights in the business sector.
