The regulation of light pollution and energy efficiency in outdoor lighting are key elements in reducing environmental impact and protecting the night-time environment.

In Catalonia, Law 20/2009 on environmental prevention and control of activities establishes the legal regime applicable to activities with an environmental impact, differentiating them according to their potential impact and regulating the controls necessary to ensure compliance.

On 24 July, the new rules, Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/606, will come into force to accurately measure the efficiency of battery recycling. These rules will have to be applied by all agents involved in the production, management or recovery of batteries within the European Union. This regulation aims to establish common, clear and consistent rules to prevent unfair competition and boost the secondary market for batteries.

The Government of Catalonia, through the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental monitoring with the approval of the new Integrated Environmental Inspection Programme for the year 2024. 

Royal Decree-Law 3/2026, of February 3, approved by the Spanish Government, establishes the official revaluation of public pensions for 2026 and introduces a set of urgent measures in the area of Social Security. This decree consolidates many of the new developments that we already outlined in our January 11 article “Pensions and contributions 2026: main changes,” with definitive details on contribution rates, maximum and minimum bases, and special assistance for workers and companies.
